EcoJoia Makes 3rd Kiva Loan!

EcoJoia has made yet another quarterly donation through Kiva thanks to our EcoJoia Fund products! The EcoJoia Fund allowed us to give out two $100 loans to the candidates below. The first loan was given to Ndeye Anta Seck to help support her jewelry business in Dakar, Senegal. By expanding her business Ndeye will be able to better feed her five children and enhance her financial independence.The second loan went to Efua Eshia. This loan will help her purchase more spices for her food market in Abura, Ghana. An increase in inventory will hopefully raise Efua’s funds, allowing her to open a bigger market to sell from. These two loans are EcoJoia’s third set of Kiva donations.

Kiva micro-lending is a proven method of lifting people out of poverty and allowing them to help themselves. Micro-lending can lead to economic growth, improvements in health care and education, and decreases in violence in developing countries.

EcoJoia has hired 2 interns for the summer and we could not be more excited! They are both fresh graduates of the Colorado State University Design and Merchandising program. We can’t wait for our 2 new girls to join the EcoJoia team!

The Cove is a thrilling documentary following Ric O’Barry with EcoJoia’s partner organization Save Japan Dolphins on the quest to end the annual dolphin hunt in Taiji, Japan. The quarterly EcoJoia Fund donation has been made in the form of a Kiva loan! The first EcoJoia Fund Kiva loan has been fully paid back and we decided to re-loan the original donation amount plus our second EcoJoia Fund donation to “Las Rosas Y Las Guindas” in Peru. Las Rosas Y Las Guindas is a group of Peruvians selling vegetables and other groceries in the markets of their community.
