Where do the other 75% of the proceeds go?
The portion of the sell price that is not donated to our partner organizations goes to cover the costs of operating our business. For most products, around 1/3 of the price of each item is wrapped up in the raw production costs. Besides the raw costs of our goods, we have to pay for the costs of running our daily operations, which consist of things like rent, shipping supplies, and labor. We also had to pay back our initial investment into EcoJoia, which went to purchasing inventory, building a website, etc. As with any business there are also taxes that are paid to the government and fees for things like payroll and credit card processing.
I see you have products benefiting Save Japan Dolphins, Earth Island Institute, and Ric O'Barry's Dolphin Project, but they all save dolphins. What is the difference between these organizations?
Donations from the sales of dolphin merchandise that benefits Save Japan Dolphins, Earth Island Institute, or Ric O'Barry's Dolphin Project go to the same place. To clarify, Save Japan Dolphins and Ric O'Barry's Dolphin Project are campaigns under Earth Island Institute and are lead by Ric O'Barry, head activist and star of Oscar-winner 'The Cove'. The Save Japan Dolphins campaign focuses on saving dolphins from slaughter and captivity in Japan. Ric O'Barry's Dolphin Project focuses on saving dolphins from slaughter and captivity around the rest of the world. Earth Island Institute is the parent organization of both campaigns and Ric O'Barry is employed by Earth Island Institute as the Campaign Director of both. EcoJoia also sells non-dolphin merchandise that benefits Earth Island Institute's many other campaigns.
Why do you use USPS instead of other carriers like UPS or FedEx?
We prefer to have the lowest shipping rates possible for our customers. USPS has enabled us to provide quality shipping at an affordable price for our worldwide customer base.
My order was shipped outside of the US, why can I not view the tracking updates?
International orders do not update the tracking information, however we still want you to be notified that your order has shipped. It is vastly more expensive to offer international tracking. Orders shipped within the US do provide up to date tracking information.
How long do international orders take to arrive at their destination?
Depending on the country's customs processes, orders shipping internationally can take anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks from the shipment date to arrive at their destination.
