Hawksbill Hope was established in 2009 as a 501(c)(3) public charity to protect the hawksbill sea turtles that nest on the beaches near Gales Point, Belize. Hawksbill Hope strives to support research and conservation activities in Belize for many years to come.
Gales Point, Belize is home to a great stretch of beach that in recent years has supported a wealth of sea turtle nesting activity. Many types of turtles have been observed nesting along the 6 miles of beach, with the hawksbill sea turtle representing the most common species using this beach.
Hawksbill Hope works to aid in the conservation of hawksbill sea turtles and other organisms in Belize by providing support to monitor nesting beaches, collect nest and turtle data, and other ventures related to the protection of Belizean flora and fauna. Hawksbill Hope also provides funding and opportunities for Belizeans to get involved in the conservation of Belize’s natural resources.
