Established as a 501(c)(3) public charity in 1982 by David Brower, Earth Island Institute set out to grow environmental leadership...and the mission remains today.
Earth Island Institute enables groups and individuals who have an interesting new strategy for saving the Earth by: providing encouragement, processing grant money, giving public relations advice when asked, and providing an area on the Earth Island website for the specific cause or campaign. Earth Island is “a temple for all the people doing good” – Herb Gunther of Public Media Center. Earth Island Institute is located in the David Brower Center in Berkeley, California, USA.
Earth Island’s campaigns include now world famous Save Japan Dolphins led by Ric O’Barry the star of Oscar-winner 'The Cove', as well as: International Marine Mammal Project, The Red Panda Network, Global Services Corp, Energy Action, Center for Ecosystem Restoration, and Eco-Village Farm Learning Center.
